March update

Hey everyone!

So I wanted to just give a little update of what we are doing and how life is in Colorado.

We have been married for almost 6 months and are loving our life in Colorado! Every day is filled with work, driving back and forth from Monument to the Springs and hanging out with friends and family. Eric is still working two jobs and I am still at the credit union.

We have some exciting adventures that we are looking forward to this coming year and are expecting great things to happen. First, we are looking at the possibility of buying a house here in Colorado!!! I am so excited about this adventure, especially after listening to our neighbors fight the other night. We are not looking for anything ginormous or anything, just a nice little cute home! Second, we are excited to see what happens with Eric's job at the church later this year and praying he can go full time or close to it! (That is what he really wants to do) We are going on the winter retreat with the youth group this month and then Eric will be going on a mission trip with them this summer. Third, I am looking at a possible trip to go see me friend Melissa (who had a baby in December) at the end of May! YAY!!! Fourth... well... I'm still thinking of that one... ;)

On a side note, our niece, Mia Bella (Erin and Casey's daughter) is turning 1 tomorrow and we are going to her first birthday party on Saturday. Oh, that's another thing, I get to spend 1 day each week with Mia!! We enjoy shopping at the mall and her favorite store... TARGET!!

Well, that is pretty much our life in a nut shell! I am really going to start trying to write more on here! Stay tuned for more to come!!!

Here it is!!!

For all of you who have been waiting for our next blog... ta da... here you go!!

I'll start with a little update of where we are at with our lives.
~Eric is working at our church as the middle school leader/coordinator. He is loving his time there and gets to go out to lunch and coffee with volunteers (I'm just a little bit jealous!). He works just two days a week at the church and the other days is working at Rocky Mountain lube and oil center.

~I am going on my official third week at Ent Federal Credit Union, five weeks with the company. I am trying to like my job and am still learning so much every day. I AM thankful I have paid holidays off, so that is one thing I like about it... but I don't know if that is enough to stay. I miss my job with Alaska Airlines, but don't miss being gone all the time!

We spend most of our free time with family and friends here. We have our special shows we watch with Aaron and Chelsea, friends who live in our building. We spend Sunday after noon with Eric's parents and then go to a married's small group on Sunday nights. We usually see Casey, Erin and Mia a few times a week for a movie night and dinner.

I am loving Colorado, but miss my family and friends in Washington so much!!!

I think I will end there, since I am at church right now and should get back upstairs to support my husband while he gives the middle schoolers cookies that are made with salt instead of sugar! He was so excited to make them eat the cookies!

bridezilla

Ahh weddings, they are a beautiful thing. Most girls dream of that wonderful day and how perfect it will be. From the flowers to the cake and to the very detail on her dress, every detail is planned out.

I have always been that girl! Every since I was little, I could picture that beautiful day. One thing I never thought of, was all the little details it takes to get to "that" day. Everything has been going well and I have thought of myself as an easy going bride to be... until today!! A little bridezilla came out of me this morning as I talked to the UPS guy that metered our invitations for the wrong amount. I'll give you a little back story before I continue.

It was a beautiful Colorado afternoon as Erin, Kirsten a.k.a. mom, and I finished addressing all 200 and something invitations. Eric took the invitations to the UPS store to see how much they would be, and they quoted us $1.00 for each invitation! Thinking they would still be the same price the, the next day we went in the store and the guy working said that they would only be 50 cents!! WOW... we thought to ourselves! That's awesome!! Thinking we were saving A LOT of money, we left 180 invitations there to be metered for 50 cents. We then went to breakfast to celebrate our big mailing and enjoyed every bite! The weekend went on with apartment shopping and spending time with family. We flew home Tuesday afternoon to fine a bundle of invitations in my mailbox saying they needed 20 more cents. With anger ragging inside of me, I called Eric and told him what happened. It was too late to call the UPS store, so I tried to get some sleep. I woke up this morning and called the UPS store right away. It was the same guy who had helped us and I told him the story of getting the invitations back.

This is what he said...
ups guy - Well, I don't know what to tell you miss, but I metered those letters myself and I metered them correctly.

me - Well, they are not metered correctly because I am holding a stack of them as we speak!

ups guy - I'm very sorry, but they should have been delivered.

me - That is another thing, I paid you 50 cents for each invitation and the metered stamp is only
for 42 cents. Why is that?! Where is the other 8 cents?!

ups guy - Yes, they are metered for 42 cents. That is what it cost to mail them.

me - No, it is more than 42 cents to mail them because they are in square envelope. Again, why were they metered for 42 cents and not 50 cents when I paid you 50 cents for each one.

ups guy - Well, we have to make money some way!!

me - If it was going to be 42 cents to mail then, I would have put a stamp on it myself and not a huge white label!!! (getting really angry at this point, but still keeping my cool)

ups guy - That is what they came to on the meter and so that is what I put on the metered stamp.

As, you can tell, I was getting nowhere with this guy. I told him at the end of our conversation, that I would take them to the post office, see what they would say and if I didn't get anywhere with them, I would be calling him back. (really angry at this point)

I hung up the phone and my mom came in to ask me what he said. I burst into tears and fell onto my bed. (lost it!)

This afternoon, I took the stack of invitations to the post office and they said they need 20 more cents. I told them that some people already received their invitation and they said they may be charge 20 cents to get it. (still really angry)

As of right now, this story is not over! I am going to have my sister Dixie call the UPS guy tomorrow and give him the "what for"!! I'll write more tomorrow... I think I need a nap now...

Fast food

The day before my birthday, Eric and I went to North Bend and went shopping at the outlet malls. We were both getting hungry and could not decide where we wanted to eat. We finally decided on Arby's and ordered two roast beef sandwiches, two orders of curly fries and two sodas! We sat in the parking lot and enjoyed our yummy dinner!!

Eric eating curly fries at Arby's!

After finishing our food, we thought to ourselves... "We're still hungry!" So, we went to McDonald's!!! =D We ordered one chicken sandwich, one hot fudge sunday, one ice cream cone, two orders of fries (YUM!) and two sodas!

Me with my fries and ice cream cone at McDonald's!

As you can tell, we had a lot of fun and had VERY full tummies!
